Hay Bay, Napanee

Welcome to beautiful Hay Bay, 25 km south of Napanee, 40km west of Kingston, and 20 east of Prince Edward County/Island. Activities of interest include historical sites in Kingston, food, art, wine and spirits tours in Prince Edward County (PEC), cycling, hiking the sand dunes of Sandbanks Provincial Park, and Thousand Island Cruises.

Kingston

About a 45-minute drive from the wedding location is the charming, historic city of Kingston, Ontario.

Visit Fort Henry, go on a Thousand Island boat tour, grab drinks at one of the downtown pubs, or hop a free ferry to Wolfe Island.

Prince Edward County

More than 35 wineries, a big artists’ community, lots of nice restaurants, festivals, and the famous Sandbanks provincial park, make PEC a perfect area to explore while you’re in town for the wedding.

Hay Bay

Home to the groom’s family, and the venue for this special day, picturesque Hay Bay is famed for their Pickerel fishing, quiet cycling roads, wineries and breweries, and an historical Loyalist 1790s church.

Approx. 15 kms and have a designated driver, and includes a Lavender Farm and Alpaca Farm: Hillier Creek Estate Winery (great thin crust pizza too), Stanners Vineyard, Traynor Family Vineyard, Hinterland Wine Company, Grange of Prince Edward Vineyard (beautiful barn resto), Lacey Estates Winery, Closson Chase Vineyards, Broken Stone Winery, Prince Edward County Lavender Farm (every possible lavender product imaginable, including ice cream-for the brave), SHED Chetwyn Farms- Alpacas and their wool products (very soft).

Cider, wine and beer tours

The County Cider Company (amazing view from terrace and good food), Waupoos Estate Winery, Clafeld Cider house & Market,  The Miller House café & Brasserie (outdoor terrace with jaw-dropping view and tapas, Lake on the Mountain Brewing company (300m from the Glenora ferry), Lake on the Mountain Resort – restaurant with great local food and outdoor terrace by the lake…worth visiting to see Lake Ontario from the cliff top lake “on the mountain” ( also a great spot to park and then cycle to all the above venues – a  50 km tour on Waupoos Peninsula)

The Waterfront River Pub and Terrace (as a meat eater, I assert that I had the best burger in my life at this place- Portobello Mushroom burger, and make sure they don’t overcook it).
